We are getting much closer to securing a job, so with any luck, by next month it will be all systems go again! Having had this 'unforeseen circumstance', it has enabled us to think long and hard about the house, what else we could add, and our colour scheme.
We have decided to include the smaller alfresco option, as this will provide some shading to the family room and kitchen in Summer, as they face west. It will also save a lot of trouble in the long run having to add something later...better to do it now. So currently we are looking at BBQ's and outdoor brushed aluminium ceiling fans!
We have also narrowed down the brick options to 'Hawthorn' from Austral and 'Hawthorn Black Blend' or 'Hawthorn Red Blend' from Daniel Robertson. We are still unsure of the price for the Austral bricks, and, of course, the Daniel Robertsons' had to be one of the most expensive! ;) Roof tiles will be shingle style gunmetal grey from Bristile (non standard, so extra price), and we have pretty much decided on 'Merino' coloured windows and 'Paperbark' gutters, facias and garage door, possibly downpipes too.
As for the inside, we have also decided on Caesar Stone benchtops for the ensuite, bathroom and powder room instead of Laminex, as it is included in the kitchen. I can't wait to create a little uniformity between the rooms instead of having 'a bit of this' and 'a bit of that'! It's perhaps a little excessive to have Caesar Stone in the laundry...we'll match it up with a nice looking Laminex! ;)
The base price has infact risen by $2000, but according to our lovely Sales Consultant, we are locked into our original price for 6 months. Bye bye Caesar Stone if this wasn't the case! We've decided on basins, mirror styles, extra cupboards in the laundry, and an extra set of doors between the hallway and the kitchen/family room.
There are still many colours to choose, particually the internal paint and the wet area tiles, but this might have to wait until we do our actual colour appointment. I'll post photos soon of our final brick 'choices', the roof tiles, Caesar Stone colour, kitchen cupboard colour, and basin/mirror combinations next time.
