Building Permit Arrives.

We have our building permit! Although it arrived yesterday and we forgot to check the mail, I discovered it in the letter box this morning!

All we need is to find out from Henley when site start will be, and it is all systems go. With any luck, they have sent our file up to the construction team, so they can begin the ordering of 'bits'. It's very exciting, but I'm not too sure of the 'slab before Christmas' at this stage...time will tell.

Hurry up Henley, I've been waiting long enough for this house... :)

CONGRATULATIONS! Fantastic news to hear. Hope your file is sent to Construction asap so the pre-slab works can start.

I just read your comment on Bel's insulation thread, someone has been through our entire upper level and installed a million screws so hopefully no creaking for us :-)ineri

Thanks H2B!

That was a valuable piece of info I read on Alan's blog about the screws, and filed it away in my head for reference later!! I'm pretty sure 'somewhere' in the paperwork it said Henley won't put soundscreen batts between the floors, so even more vital to do this pre carpet install. Would be nothing worse than having spent 12K on carpet and having creaky floorboards develop underneath.

I guess I know what we'll be doing first post handover...

hmmmmm.....I'm a little confused.

The sound batts will need to be installed before the plaster not the carpet.

The screws will need to be installed before the carpet though :-)

We had one section (two step length) of creakiness just at the top left of our stairs. Someone picked up (maybe SS) and sprayed a big hot pink box around it. I guess they thought they'd do the entire upper level. I'll post some photos of it soon on my blog as the battery is just charging.

My Quote: "I'm pretty sure 'somewhere' in the paperwork it said Henley won't put soundscreen batts between the floors, so even more vital to do this pre carpet install."

'This' referring to screwing down the floor because there won't be any batts between the floors to deaden the creaks! I think it made sense...although it was nearly midnight!!!! ;) ;) Haha!
